My first job was as a rigger and truck driver. Over the next 30 years, I watched the business go from the wild west of fast—tough—get it done—to the modern era of safety first, customer service, and emotional intelligence. I joined NessCampbell Crane + Rigging
in 2011, and have been a VP for five years now, overseeing our machinery moving and rigging division
in Portland and Seattle. My goals are to run a successful division that makes the crane business stronger, and to make sure our employees are happy, loyal, and successful. My favorite jobs are the ones that use all our skills, from storage and transportation to rigging, hoisting, and engineering—I have experience in all of them. Every job and location is different, which adds to the challenge, and I get to work with the best people and talent imaginable. For me, this is more than just work. It’s partnership and friendship. We spend several weeks a year traveling together, and have barbeques and get-togethers at home. We know we can lean on each other when the going gets tough.
