Stretch trailers are similar to other removable gooseneck and double drop trailers (and there are stretch versions of both such trailers). However, there is one major difference: stretch trailers can adjust to the size of the cargo by adapting in length.
Unlike the average trailer, which is 53 feet in length, a stretch trailer can adjust to a full 81’– a full 30 feet more. This makes it the ideal choice for cargo which is rather long, such as large lumber hauls, long steel, windmills and train tracks.Â
Tank trailers are commonly used for fuel transport, but they’re also useful for transporting water or any other liquid, as well as foods and items that require refrigeration.
One consideration is that a tank trailer has to be the right kind of trailer for the job: if one is transporting food or potable water, is the tank trailer itself a food-grade trailer? These and other considerations should take place before a trailer is ever loaded. That’s why it’s important to talk to experienced haulers who will be able to answer your questions.
Given their very specific uses, stretch trailers and tank trailers are not for every heavy haul. Each has its own unique and non-overlapping strength over the other, but the key is making sure that the right trailer is used to keep your cargo intact and moved efficiently.
